Traditional houses in Vanutu islands are built out of local materials like bamboo, coconut leaves, and coral stones, and aredesigned to withstand strong winds and floods. There are evidences of these houses surving and providing shelter to people during the through two of the worst cyclones in recent history, Cyclone Pam in 2015 and Cyclone Harold in 2020.
